PCB to offer contracts to 25 players

KARACHI, Jan 21: Twenty-five cricketers will be awarded yearly
contracts before a 15-member party leaves for South Africa on
Jan 25, it was decided in a Council meeting on Wednesday.
The terms and conditions of the contracts have been finalised
and the document will be passed on to the players in a couple of
days, the Council was told by PCB chief executive Majid Khan.
The contract will begin from Jan 1, 1998 and will expire on Dec
31, 1998. The final list of the 25 players will be officially
released to the Press shortly.
"The players will be given a chance to discuss the contract and
request for some changes if they deem it necessary," a
Councillor, on the condition of anonymity said.
The contract will be awarded on the seniority of players with
every member of the team to get monthly stipend from the cricket
board. During a tour, the players will get additional tour match
fee while the players not on the tour will receive their monthly
salaries.
The captain will receive an additional amount. It has been done
on the lines of Australia, South Africa and England boards.
