SHERWIN CAMPBELL did not intend to cause a major scene when he
held out his hand after falling to the ground on colliding with
Brendon Julian.
"I held out my hand at the umpire because I was not sure what
they (the umpires) would have done," Campbell said yesterday. He
said he was simply asking the umpire to see his side.
"I felt I could have gotten there (before I fell)," Campbell
said of the incident. "But I'm not sure if he (Julian) came
across in front of me purposely."
When asked what transpired after he was adjudged run out,
Campbell said there was no by-play as he left the field and he
was not taunted by the opposition.
He said he sat patiently in the dressing room waiting for a
decision to be made after both teams left the field, and he was
informed by manager Clive Lloyd that he would be reinstated.
Campbell, who was 52 at the time of the incident, added a
further ten after resumption, and said he was elated to have
played a part in West Indies' triumph.
"I feel great to win the game and pull back the series," the
28-year-old said. "We won the series and I got the
Man-Of-The-Match and the Man-Of-The-Series."
