Subba Row decision unfair
Jerry Clarke
The run of play in the Fifth One-day International at Bourda was
with the West Indies.
Yet Raman Subba Row can ignore the situation to contrive a run
for Australia to tie the match, focusing only on the Aussie
attempt to make a run.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) must have a code to
evaluate the performance of such "lords" of the game who by
these actions bring the integrity of the match referee into
serious doubt.
We in the West Indies must stop being apologetic for incidents
in the Caribbean.
Don't blame the crowd for this result. The pitch was invaded,
yes, but the invasion was not conducted by, or in favour of the
home team, and hence the 11 men that shed blood and sweat should
not be penalised for the predictable out-of-control behaviour of
the crowd.
It was an unbalanced decision by Subba Row.
We should be angry and ashamed that the crowd at Bourda was
allowed to behave as they did. But we should be more angry and
demonstrative about the poor decision made by the match referee.
We should call on the ICC to remove him immediately and reverse
this decision.
