Umpires and referees for World Cup announced

KARACHI, April 19: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has
announced a panel of 12 umpires and six match referees for next
month's World Cup in England. Pakistan will be represented at the
World Cup by umpire Javed Akhtar and match referee Talat Ali.
According to details available, the ICC has picked one umpire from
eight Test-playing nations on the international panel with the hosts,
England, providing two. To make up the number, the ICC has selected
an additional umpire each from New Zealand and South Africa.
The duties of the TV (third umpire) and the reserve umpires will be
performed by umpires from the English first-class panel.
In addition, one umpire each from the three Associate Member
countries appearing in the World Cup will feature as reserve umpires
only. They are Salab Hossain (Bangladesh), Subash Modi (Kenya) and
William Smith (Scotland).
The panel for umpires is: David Shepherd and Peter Willey (both
England), Darrell Hair (Australia), Srinivas Venkataraghavan (India),
Javed Akhtar (Pakistan), Steve Bucknor (West Indies), Doug Cowie and
Steve Dunne (both from New Zealand), Ian Robinson (Zimbabwe), Dave
Orchard and Rudi Koertzen (both from South Africa) and K.T. Francis
(Sri Lanka).
The six-man panel of match referees includes Peter Burge (Australia),
Raman Subba Row (England), John Reid (New Zealand), Ranjan Madugalle
(Sri Lanka), Talat Ali (Pakistan) and Cammie Smith (West Indies).
