The manager and coach of the Pakistan cricket team on Sunday showed urgency in taking all the credit of calling Younis Khan for the three- Test series in New Zealand.
But their claim is far from true. The man who pressed for Younis' inclusion in the Test squad and made sure that he was there before the three-dayer prior to the first Test was the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lt Gen Tauqir Zia.
While talking to a foreign news agency about his role in pursuing the selectors to include Younis Khan, Miandad forgot that he had recently alleged in one of his statements that he was neither consulted nor took part in selectorial matters.
It is unfortunate that the man who was instrumental in sending Younis Khan against all odds after the selectors had dumped him from the home series against England, is not taking credit.
But the people who had nothing to do with Younis' selection, are trying to take credit of the batsman's instant success.
Like a true head of the institution, the general, in his congratulatory message to the Pakistan cricket team, appreciated the collective effort of the team as well as the distinctive contributions of Mohammad Sami, Younis Khan and Saqlain Mushtaq.
