Scorecard
An undefeated 150-run third-wicket partnership between Narsingh Deonarine and Lennox Cush paved the way for Guyana to ease to an eight-wicket win against Windward Islands and move into the finals of the regional one-day competition. Chasing a modest 175 for victory at St Philip, Guyana lost two early wickets, but Deonarine (83 not out) and Cush (63 not out) ensured that there would be no further hiccups.
Both started off circumspectly, getting their runs mostly with singles, but then found the fence with increasing regularity as the Windward bowlers wilted. Their stand equalled the third-wicket record for Guyana in one-day matches - Monte Lynch and Faoud Bacchus had put on exactly as many against Barbados 21 years ago.
Earlier, Cush had starred with the ball too, taking 3 for 21 as Windward Islands could only manage 174 despite a 51-run partnership for the first wicket between Devon Smith and Junior Murray. Craig Emmanuel, batting at No. 3, top-scored with 34, but none of the other middle-order batsmen even got starts.
Guyana will now meet Trinidad and Tobago in the finals on Saturday.
