Queensland 199 and 309 (Philipson 73, Johnson 51*, Cullen 5-78, Tait 4-97) beat South Australia 143 & 200 (Lehmann 104, Blewett 54, Dawes 5-49) by 165 runs
South Australia's woeful season continued despite a brilliant Darren Lehmann century as Queensland leaped to the top of the Pura Cup table with victory at the Gabba. While Lehmann and Greg Blewett were combining for a 157-run stand South Australia were a chance of winning, but once Lehmann's stumps were shattered by Mitchell Johnson they lost 9 for 34 in 65 minutes.
Joe Dawes, the Man of the Match, crashed through South Australia, who are in last place, with 5 for 49 and Johnson chipped in with three wickets after making an unbeaten 51 as Queensland extended their lead in the opening session. Lehmann had reached 104 from 85 balls, an innings that may secure his place on the Test tour of New Zealand, when Johnson sent his middle stump flying and began the collapse.
Greg Blewett was caught behind off Dawes for 54 and no other batsman reached double figures in a poor performance that ended when the last four wickets went in nine balls before tea. The win moved Queensland, who lost the ING Cup final to Tasmania last weekend, to 34 points, two ahead of Western Australia.
