At Perth, December 20. West Indies won by eight wickets with no less than twenty overs to spare to complete a highly successful weekend. Lloyd put the Australians in to bat on a fast pitch, and after Holding had dismissed Darling and Chappell with successive balls in his third over, they collapsed to 80 for six. A fighting stand of 70 between the two West Australians, Wood and Lillee, enabled Australia to reach 188 for nine. West Indies lost Bacchus and Haynes for 37, whereupon Richards and Lloyd began to bat at their most brilliant best.
