At Adelaide, January 26. West Indies won by eight wickets. Sri Lanka, put in, were outplayed from start to finish. They were unable to score a run from Davis's first five overs; slumped to 22 for three in the thirteenth over, and were given only slim hope by Dias and Mendis who added 93 from eighteen overs. Greenidge, whose sixth century in one-day internationals included ten 4s (and two chances before he was 40), and Haynes emphasised the insignificance of the Sri Lankan total by scoring 133 from 22 overs.
