15-Apr-1984
Pakistan won by an innings and 119 runs, an even more sweeping victory than in Karachi. After winning the toss Pakistan scored 581 for three in two days. The feature of the innings was the third-wicket stand of 451 between Mudassar and Miandad, which equalled the world Test record for any wicket. Both batsmen made their highest Test score. India, again hopelessly outplayed, were all out for the first time for 189 on the third day, Sandhu, on his Test début, contributing a defiant 71. Forced to follow on, they suffered another disastrous collapse on the final morning, when their last seven wickets fell for only 72 runs. Viswanath equalled Sobers' world record of 85 consecutive Test appearances.
