Even so, India's 315 was not overwhelming, given a good pitch and a quick outfield. Australia's hopes were raised by a partnership of 110 spanning 17.3 overs between Hayden, who scored 99 off 90 balls with seven fours and a six, and Bevan. Once Bevan went, however, pulling at a short ball, the challenge petered out.
