The South Australia leadership pair of Darren Lehmann and Graham Manou has been reappointed for the 2006-07 season. With Lehmann as captain and Manou his deputy, the Redbacks improved dramatically last summer to lead the Pura Cup competition in January before slipping in the final rounds to finish third.
South Australia also lost the ING Cup decider by one wicket and Paul Nobes, the state's chairman of selectors, said the healthy results meant there was no reason for change. "Darren is the right person to take us forward, particularly with the very high expectations we have of this playing group," Nobes said. "He is also the right person to lead our blend of more experienced players and our young up-and-coming cricketers.
"With the support of Graham, who has shown great leadership qualities in the past couple of seasons, and this quality group, we believe this is the right combination to see success this season." Lehmann is enjoying another busy winter at Yorkshire, where he has scored 898 County Championship runs at 69.07, while Manou is currently in Thailand hosting a Cricket Australia coaching course.
