Brenton Parchment scored his second-consecutive hundred to take Jamaica to a commanding position against Trinidad & Tobago at St Elizabeth. Parchment scored an undefeated 168 to set the visitors a challenging target of 320.
Parchment struck eight sixes and 13 fours in his knock and became only the second Jamaican to carry his bat through an innings after Easton McMorris in 1966. He was lucky though to be dropped twice - on 0 and 116. He and Wavell Hinds added 67 for the third wicket Parchment before Dave Mohammed dismissed Hinds. Amit Jaggernauth (3 for 115) and seamer Kieron Pollard (2 for 29) were the leading wicket-takers for T&T.
T&T began a steady reply, with the openers Lendl Simmons and Adrian Barath adding 56 before bad light stopped play 15 overs before the scheduled close.
A captain's innings from Rawl Lewis revived Windward Islands but it wasn't enough as Leeward Islands claimed first innings points at St Maarten. Lewis scored 74 as his side were bowled out for 292, 80-runs short of Leeward's score. Leewards, in their second innings, lost six wickets but were in a good position with a 245-run lead.
Resuming their overnight score of 130 for 5, Windwards added 157 in an extended morning session. Lewis and Gary Mathurin added 61 for the sixth wicket before Mathurin was run-out for 25, in attempting a second run. Andre Fletcher, who retired hurt on Tuesday, joined Lewis and added a quick 82 for the seventh wicket before seamer Lionel Baker bowled Lewis. Lewis struck seven fours and one six in his knock. Fletcher's 69 included 10 fours and a six. Justin Athanaze was the most effective bowler with 3 for 68.
In Leewards' second innings, Austin Richards and Runako Morton added 59 for the second wicket before offspinner Liam Sebastien got the important wicket of the in-form Richards, top-edging to wicketkeeper Lyndon James. Sylvester Joseph joined Morton just before tea, and Darren Sammy dismissed Morton, driving to Deighton Butler at extra-cover. Leewards stumbled to 95 for 5 as Sebastien struck twice. Jason Williams and Athanaze resurrected the innings with an undefeated 62-run stand for the seventh wicket.
