  • Brett Lee's 5 for 27 was his seventh five-for in ODIs, which equals Glenn McGrath's Australian record. While McGrath played 250 games, Lee has appeared in just 161. Only two bowlers - Waqar Younis and Muttiah Muralitharan - have taken more five-wicket hauls.
  • India continue to reel under the Lee onslaught. In 23 games against them, Lee has taken 42 wickets at an average of 19.42, which is significantly better than his overall average of 22.53. It was also his third five-for in ODIs against India, which equals Aaqib Javed's record against them.
  • Adam Gilchrist got just 14, but it was enough for him to move past Ricky Ponting and become Australia's leading run-getter in ODIs against India. It helped too that Ponting, who was level with Gilchrist before this innings, was dismissed without scoring.
  • Ponting's duck was the 17th of his ODI career, and his third against India. It was his seventh as captain, which puts him next only to Steve Waugh among Australian captains.
  • Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed hit-wicket for the first time in his international career, and became the third Indian batsman to fall in this manner in ODIs, after Nayan Mongia and Anil Kumble.
  • India lost their fifth wicket with just 94 on the board, making it the 21st instance when India's first five wickets have fallen with less than 100 on the board in an ODI against Australia. Ten of those instances have been in Australia.
