Hot on the heels of Rikki Clarke's departure, Derbyshire's miserable season continued when it was announced this morning that Nayan Doshi, the left-arm spinner, has also been released by the club.
"Following Nayan's request to be released from his contract," said John Morris, Derbyshire's head of cricket, "this is the best solution for both parties. I wish him all the best for his future career."
Doshi's path to Derbyshire bears remarkable similarity to Clarke's. Both played for Surrey in 2007; both found it hard to cement a place, and now both have left after just a single season. Clarke's future is now certain, and he has signed a three-year contract with Warwickshire, but it is less clear where Doshi is heading.
