Scorecard
An all-round effort from United Bank Limited helped them beat Habib Bank Limited by 22 runs in the first match of the Ramadan Twenty20 Cup in Karachi.
Having chosen to bowl first, Habib Bank were in danger of being steamrolled by the United Bank openers, Adnan Baig and Asif Ali, who raced to 95 in 9.3, aided a little by the wayward bowling. Ali, in particular, dominated the opposition attack, racing to 50 off 31 balls and hitting six fours and three sixes in the process. The innings, however, lost all momentum once Asif fell for 53 and Baig fell for 54. The Habib Bank bowlers reigned in the innings, conceding 60 runs in the last 10 overs.
In reply, Habib Bank struggled against the fast-bowling pair of Shabbir Ahmed and Mohammad Irshad, who stifled the chase with a couple of quick wickets. The chase was in more trouble after Imran Farhat fell for 16 at the start of the sixth over with the score at 37 for 4. Younis Khan and Hasan Raza provided some resistance with a 45-run stand but the chase proved insurmountable for Habib Bank once the pair fell.
