All-round Peshawar thump Sialkot

A round-up of One-Day Cup matches played on November 5

Group I

A century from Adil Amin, followed by an incisive bowling performance from Afaq Ahmed and Azam Khan, helped Peshawar Panthers rout Sialkot Stallions by 168 runs.
Amin blasted 17 fours and two sixes during his 85-ball 116, while the opener Israullah and the captain Jamaluddin pitched in with big scores of 89 and 61 respectively, to take Peshawar to a mammoth 324 for 2 from their 45 overs.
Sialkot put up a feeble run-chase in reply, as none of the batsmen managed more than 28. Afaq and Azam picked up wickets at regular intervals and notched four scalps apiece to run through Sialkot's line-up and bundle them out for 156 in 37.2 overs.
An 88-ball 114 from Awais Zia helped Rawalpindi Rams chase down 267 and secure a seven-wicket win against Abbottabad Falcons.
Zia struck 15 fours and two sixes, and also added 105 for the third wicket with Babar Naeem, as Rawalpindi built on an 88-run opening-stand between Shoaib Nasir and Naved Malik., to overhaul the target in 38.1 overs.
Abbottabad, put into bat, were earlier buoyed by the captain Waqar Orakzai's 77, that took the team to a competitive total. Their top and middle order all made good starts, but were unable to push on for bigger scores, as the team eventually finished at 267 for 8.
Left-arm spinner Usama Basharat spearheaded a fine bowling performance from Karachi Zebras, as they beat Bahawalpur Stags by six wickets.
Basharat picked up the crucial wicket of Hammad Tariq, who top-scored with 47, before dismissing Imranullah Aslam and Safeer Tariq to eventually finish with 3 for 29. Mohammad Wasim scored 30, but nine of Bahawalpur's batsmen departed for single-digit scores, as Waqar Anwar, Haaris Ayaz and Faraz Ahmed picked up two scalps apiece to bundle them out for 131 in 41.1 overs.
Karachi Zebras lost Behram Khan early in the their chase, but recovered with a 25-ball 32 from Ashraf Ali. They lost two more wickets, but Javed Mansoor took the team home by striking four fours and adding 36 for the fifth wicket with Owais Rehmani.

Group II

Lahore Lions opened their account in the One Day Cup with an 85-run win against Faisalabad Wolves. Chasing 248, Faisalabad scored 163 with only three of their batsmen reaching double figures.
Lahore's top order gave them a strong start, including a 52 from Umar Siddiq. An unbeaten 75 off 59 from No. 5 Salman Ali charged them further as he struck six fours and two sixes. However, quick lower-order wickets dented their chances of putting up a huge score as Lahore lost their last five wickets for 45 runs.
Faisalabad started shakily in reply, losing their first three wickets for 26 runs. Salman Ali scored 43 and Zeeshan Butt and Hasan Mahmood scored in thirties but no other batsman could resist. Left-arm spinner Mustafa Iqbal finished with 3 for 27.
Karachi Dolphins topped Group II with a 66-run win over Islamabad Leopards after scoring a competitive 263 for 4 in 45 overs. Islamabad couldn't get past 200 despite a 71 from Imad Wasim as Babar Rehman and Mir Hamza shared seven wickets between them.
Karachi lost their first wicket for 10 before Asif Zakir's 59 and Saad Ali's unbeaten 91 off 77 steered the innings. Yasir Mushtaq could not contribute much but Mohammad Hassan and Rehman's knocks took them past 250.
In reply, Islamabad had a shaky start, losing their top four batsmen cheaply, including two ducks. Wasim's fifty with 12 boundaries was the sole resisting innings until No. 11 Hamza Nadeem scored 53 off 36 but it wasn't enough.
Multan Tigers strolled to a six-wicket win by chasing 119 against Quetta Bears in Multan. Put in to bat, Quetta could not make much of their innings losing wickets at regular intervals and only one of their players crossed 20. Sadaf Mehdi dismissed four of the top five batsmen, three with the help of wicketkeeper Maqbool Ahmed. They were somehow taken past 100 with a score of 30 from No. 7 Shahbaz Khan. Mehdi ended with 4 for 31 from seven overs.
Multan lost four wickets in their chase. The openers were dismissed by Faizullah and a few overs later, Gohar Faiz chipped in with two more wickets but Ahmed Rasheed and Kashif Naved took them home with a 57-run stand in the 28th over.
