Pakistan, then, are the first confirmed finalists in the first Twenty20 final... and aren't they enjoying it? There's even an on-pitch cartwheel from one of the support staff... though not Geoff Lawson who is looking quietly happy. They deserved to make it all the way, after suppressing New Zealand who had chosen to bat, then easing to the six-wicket victory.
Shoaib says: "First of all I want to thank you my team-mates. It's a great win, our bowlers, they're bowling brilliantly at the moment, they contained them."
Vettori says: "It just wasn't to be this time. We've been ragged with our batting. It's bitterly disappointing and I know the boys will be hurting a lot."
Shoaib again: "We are going to improve on our mistakes for the final where we will give 100 per cent."
Umar Gul is the deserved Man of the Match, with 3 for 15. "We have done a lot of hard work for the Twenty20, a lot of practice for yorkers, bouncers and the slower ones. We hope to continue with the same performance and I will try my best to perform the same way."
