2012 Elite Player Series to test Hong Kong's best young women

The HKCA will again be running a Elite Player Series Summer competition. This year's competition will be an under-21 women's series over three consecutive weekends starting Sunday, 13th May at Mission Road. The three game series will feature Hong Kong's up-and-coming women stars in a 30-over format.

"It is vital that we start to develop our younger female players as they don't get enough cricket at club level and it is always a huge jump when we travel overseas to compete against the best teams in Asia. Some of these players have been playing for Hong Kong since 15 and now need to start pressing claims to bat higher or take the new ball. The only way this will happen is give them opportunity and, hopefully with performance added in, we might see a big leap forward," said National Coach Charlie Burke.

The National Selectors will be keen to observe these three games with a Hong Kong under-21 squad then being selected to travel to Singapore at the end of June to compete against the likes of Singapore, Japan and Thailand in a T20 competition.
