The Women's Cricket Association of India selection committee on Saturday announced a list of 35 probables for the coaching camp to select the Indian team for the World Cup to be held in New Zealand in November.
Announcing the list at the end of the CricInfo Rani Jhansi Trophy tournament in Chennai, the four member selection committee, comprising Rajesh Nayyar, Mithu Mukerjee, Suresh Dhumke and S Rajesh said that the probables would attend coaching camps. Speaking to CricInfo, Rajesh Nayyar, the North Zone representative in the committee said that the players were expected to attend several camps of the duration of 15 days each with a months lay off in between. She added that the dates of the camps and the venues were yet to be fixed.
Apart from the list of probables, the committee also announced the Rest of India team, who are slated to play Indian Railways, the Senior National champions.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu governor Fathima Beevi presided over the prize distribution function. Hemalatha Kala of Railways was named the Player of the Tournament while Kalyani Umbrani of West Zone was named the Best Batswomen. Neetu David of the Railways was adjudged the Best Bowler.
The probables: Anju Jain, Anjum Chopra, Purnima Rau, Mithali Raj, Umbrani Kalyani, Reshma Gandhi, Renu Margaret, Hemalatha Kala, Rupanjali Shastri, Neetu David, Umesh Kumari, Arti Vaidya, GS Laxmi, Sunita Kanojia, Purnima Chowdhury, Deepa Kulkarni, Smitha Harikrishna, Amrita Shinde, Vaishali Lange, Neelima Bagmare, Sangeeta Kamath, Jhulan Goswami, Rumeli Dhar, Kavitha Roy, K Arundhati, R Varsha, Bindeswari Goel, Gulshan Sharma, Jaya Sharma, Rakhi Mehra, Gurdeep Kaur, Vanitha Viola, Swarna Lakshmi, Mamta Krishnan and Seema Pujari.
Rest of India team: Purnima Rau (captain), Kalyani Umbrani, Anju Jain, Anjum Chopra, Mithali Raj, Amrita Shinde, Vanita Viola, Bindeswari Goel, Jhulan Goswami, Swarnalaxmi, Kavita Roy, Rumeli Dhar, Sangeetha kamath, Varsha Reffiel and Gulshan Sharma. Reserves: Mamta Krishnan, Vaishali Lange, Seema Pujari and Rakhi Mehra.
