- Ijaz Ahmed's duck was 12th of his career in 238th matchfourth against Australia in 30th match. He has now been dismissed without scoring on most occasions for Pakistan against Australia. Ijaz was previously at level with Rameez Raja and Salim Malik who each has recorded three ducks in 18 and 26 matches respectively (later Wasim Akram also recorded his third duck against Australia in his 37th match). Just for the record, South Africa's Allan Donald holds the record of aggregating most ducks in a career against Australia - five in 28 matches.
- Abdur Razzaq became sixth Pakistani to score a fifty while batting at number eight.Incidentally Wasim Akram (79, v SriLanka, Visakhapatnam,27-03-1999) holds the world record of playing the highest individual innings at this position. Other Pakistani batsmen to score a fifty at number eight are: Asif Mujtaba (60*,v Australia,Perth, 02-01-1987), Azhar Mahmood (59*, v South Africa, Lahore, 02-11-1997), Salim Yousuf (59, v Australia, Sydney, 25-02-1990) and Manzoor Elahi (50*,v India, Sharjah, 05-12-1986).
- The wicket of Adam Gilchrist was 50th for Shoaib Akhtar in ODIs in his 29th match.He became 15th Pakistani and 114th bowler overall to reach this milestone. Akhtar is now the third fastest for Pakistan in terms of least matches taken to do so after Waqar Younis (27) and Saqlain Mushtaq (28).
- Michael Bevan completed his 4000 runs during his knock of 15. He was playing his 126th match (and 111th innings). Bevan thus became seventh Australian after Mark Waugh (6993 runs in 202 matches), Allan Border (6524 in 273), Steve Waugh (6428 in 240), Dean Jones (6068 in 164), David Boon (5964 in 181) and Geoff Marsh (4357 in 117) and 35th batsman overall to do so.
- Steve Waugh's innings (81*) is the highest by an Australian captain against Pakistan in all matches. The previous highest was Mark Taylor's 78 at Adelaide on 13-12-1992.
- The defeat was Pakistan's first in last 11 matches since losing to Australia in World Cup final at Lord's on 20-06-1999
