A TIE TO REMEMBER - Hampshire v Australia, 2001

To mark Hampshire's win over the Australians, a souvenir tie has been produced. It incorporates the distinctive colours of Australia's famous "Baggy Green" cap and Hampshire's Navy blue separated by a yellow stripe.

Approval from the ACB was obtained by Richard Binns, the Hampshire Shop manager, to set the modern Aussie logo alongside the classic Hampshire crest in his stylish design for this "one-off" tie. In production this week, the tie was available in time for the Norwich Union one-day game against Lancashire on the 27th of August.

Before the Bank Holiday match, all the Hampshire players who took part in that exciting game received a gift of the tie as a reminder of the team's memorable victory against the Australians. Team coach Jimmy Cook and club scorer Vic Isaacs also received the momento.

Robin Smith and Jimmy Cook receive the special tie from David Robinson cricket chairman.

For all those who were also present to enjoy that special day at the Rose Bowl, the tie will be on sale (£9.00) in the Hampshire Shop, or can be obtained direct from Carol at Hampshire County Cricket Club.
