Cricinfo's brush with rock 'n roll occurred when the Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger, frustrated that the Champions Trophy played in Sharjah in 1997 was not telecast in the UK, contacted Mark Mascarenhas of World Tel, the company producing the telecasts for the matches, and asked if he could help. Mascarenhas said he could provide the feed but they needed someone to host it on the internet. Jagger then put up the money to pay Real Broadcast Networks to stream the games on Cricinfo.
