Kent County Cricket Club today announced that Alamgir Sheriyar, former Worcestershire bowler, has signed a two-year contract with the County. Sheriyar, 28, made his debut for Worcestershire in 1996 and was awarded his County Cap in 1997.
Having signed his new contract, Sheriyar said:
"I am truly excited by the prospect of playing for Kent. I have been greatly impressed with the Club's ambitions and plans and can't wait to get stuck into things next season. I feel that a change is the right thing for me at this stage of my career. I am only 28 and I hope that this move will provide me with the impetus to achieve much more in the game."
Commenting on this announcement, Kent's Captain, David Fulton, said:
"The Cricket Committee has thought long and hard about how best to strengthen our bowling for the future. It has been some time since we had a quality left-arm fast bowler playing for Kent. Alamgir will add variety to our attack which I am sure will provide a real threat to our opponents next season."
