Dennis Amiss will retire as Warwickshire's chief executive in April 2006, a position he has held since 1994. Amiss planned to retire in 2003, at the age of 60, but was encouraged to stay for three more years. He will continue to work for Warwickshire in a consultancy capacity until he is 65.
Neil Houghton, the Warwickshire chairman, said: "Dennis has been a hugely popular and successful chief executive at Warwickshire. He has made a major contribution to the club and will leave a lasting legacy. The committee is extremely grateful for the way in which he has developed the Club. Under his leadership the club has enjoyed its most successful period on the pitch, winning eight titles, including the triple trophy championship year of 1994.
Amiss said: "I am very proud of what the management team and I have achieved here in the last few years. Edgbaston's reputation as an international venue has been cemented through the staging some of the world's most memorable cricket events."
Amiss joined Warwickshire in 1958 and in a playing career that spanned 30 years he score 35,146 runs and made 78 centuries - the most for the county. He made his Test debut against West Indies in 1966 and played 50 Tests and 18 one-day internationals.
