Dodgy scoring, players continually swapping sides and transparent match fixing were all to the fore in Dunedin at the weekend with the staging of the season's first internationals.

A university students' tri-nations series was played at Logan Park with India, Sri Lanka and a Rest of the World combination squaring off, the World team comprising seven Pakistanis, a few Kiwis and one Japanese.

While the skills and playing uniforms weren't all what they should be, the dietary habits of the players were strictly in the best New Zealand tradition - the breakfast, lunch and tea featuring the humble barbecue.
