Andre van Troost returns to The Netherlands
After playing in England for zes years, Andre van Troost will return to The Netherlands to join the Dutch national team for their tour of South Africa and the ICC Trophy 1997. Van Troost refused to play for the Dutch team for all this time to open up the possibility to be asked for the English national team, which requires players not to have played for any other country for at least seven years.
Van Troost decided not to wait any longer, return to The Netherlands, and join the national team for their (indoor) preparations for the upcoming tours. The Dutch present a strong side for this tour, also included Roland Lefebvre, who`s been having trouble with injuries ever since the World Cup.
18 players have been announced from which a final 16 will be selected early 1997: Tim de Leede (c), Peter Cantrell, Steven van Dijk, Godfrey Edwards, Eric Gouka, Tjade Groot, Asim Khan, Roland Lefebvre, Klaas Jan van Noortwijk, Mark Nota, Robert van Oosterom, Reinout Scholte, Ravi Singh, Jeroen Smits, Andre van Troost, Luuk van Troost, Bas Zuiderent, Ahmed Zulfiqar.
It is well worth nothing that the side is getting more `Dutch` every year, with well-known `foreigners` like Nolan Clarke and Flavian Aponso having retired.
