Asanka Gurusinha retires
Gurusinha told Melbourne's The Age newspaper in a recent interview (Sat 18/10 or Sat 25/10) that he had faxed the Sri Lankan Cricket Board advising them of his retirement. He told The Age he had fallen out with Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga as a result of Ranatunga's hostile attitude towards Australia during Sri Lanka's last tour. He also noted that the departure of Dav Whatmore as coach of Sri Lanka occurred because Whatmore was being undermined by Ranatunga.
Gurusinha is currently playing his second season for North Melbourne in the Victoria Cricket Association District Competition. Cheers,
