Menashe Wadhawker starred with bat and ball as Ashdod A maintained their Division 1 status with a 80-run win over Tel Aviv Sri Lanka, who had finished second in Division 2, in a promotion play-off match.
Batting first in Ashdod on Saturday, the home team recovered from losing early wickets and being reduced to 44 for 4, with Wadhawker (53) and Hillel Awasker (29) adding 89 for the 5th wicket, and with Danny Malyanker (15*) and Leor Waskar (16*) taking the total up to 186 for 8 in their allotted 40 overs. Wadhawker then grabbed three early wickets with the ball, whilst Awasker (3 for 24) and Michael Moses (3 for 25) ran through the middle and lower order, to dismiss the Sri Lankans for just 106.
Although the domestic season continues with the T20 competition, the play-off game finally brought an end to the league season, which saw Ramla crowned champions, Dimona C relegated to Division 2 and Kiryat Gat promoted.
