  • It was the 83rd meeting between these two sides. The record now reads: Pakistan 51, India 28, no result 4.

  • It was the fifth meeting between these two sides in Asia Cup. Both teams have won two matches each, while one match was abandoned.

  • Umpire BC Cooray and Asoka De Silva were officiating in their 44th and fourth match respectively.

  • Amit Bhandari was making his ODI debut. He became the 131st player to make an ODI appearance for India.

  • Nayan Mongia was making a comeback into Indian side. He had last appeared against New Zealand at Nottingham on 12-06-1999 in World Cup. Since then he missed 39 matches for India.

  • Pakistan recorded its fourth highest total against India. The total is also the highest against India in Asia Cup matches. This obliterates the previous highest of 271 for six in 45 overs by Sri Lanka at Dhaka on 29-10-1988.

  • Yousuf Youhana made his third hundred in his 59th match. He reached three figure mark off the last ball of Pakistan's innings with a six. Youhana became 10th Pakistani to score a ODI hundred against India. He also provided the 18th instance of a hundred being scored by a Pakistani against India.

  • T.Kumaran's figures of 10-0-86-0 is the worst ever performance by an Indian in ODIs. Kumaran put in to shade Karsan Ghavri's performance in 1975 World Cup match against England. The following table lists worst figures recorded by Indians in ODIs.

  • Amit Bhandari's figures of 10-0-75-2 is the worst ever performance by a debutant in a 10 over spell. The previous record of achieving most expensive figures in a 10 over spell was jointly shared by Bangladesh's Enamul Hoque (10-0-72-0) v New Zealand at Sharjah on 28-04-1990 and Zimbabwe's Kevin Duers (10-0-72-0) v Sri Lanka at New Plymouth on 23-02-1992.

  • Bhandari's performance is also the second worst by any bowler on debut in all ODIs (irrespective of overs restriction). India's Karsan Ghavri had the figures of 11-1-83-0 v England at Lord's on 07-06-1975.

  • The stumping of Anil Kumble off the bowling of Arshad Khan was Moin Khan's 50th dismissal against India in his 39th match as a 'keeper. He became first ever keeper to do so.

  • Moin's tally of dismissals against India at the end of this match reads as 51 (39 catches + 12 stumpings) from 39 matches, which is the maximum for any 'keeper against any country in ODIs. He was earlier at level with Australia's Ian Healy who had made 49 dismissals in 39 matches against West Indies.

  • Anil Kumble was playing his 100th innings. He became 13th Indian to do so.

  • The eighth wicket partnership of 52 runs between Ajay Jadeja and Ajit Agarkar is a new record for this wicket in Asia Cup matches. This obliterates the previous highest of 46 between Aminul Islam and Golam Faruq for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka at Dhaka on 02- 11-1988.

  • The partnership is also the highest for eighth wicket for India against Pakistan.This expunges the 41 run partnership between Mohinder Amarnath and Kiran More at Sharjah on 20-10-1989.

  • Yousuf Youhana won his fourth Man of the Match.
