Marvan Atapattu, the Sri Lankan captain, has denied involvement in the decision to drop Sanath Jayasuriya, the opener, from the Test squad for the ongoing series against India.

Lalith Kaluperuma, the chairman of selectors, had said in a media release that Jayasuriya was dropped after consulting Atapattu and Tom Moody, the coach. But the Daily News reported that Atapattu said that he wasn't consulted in this regard.

Jayasuriya had problems with an injured shoulder throughout the one-day series in India and a string of poor performances with the bat coupled with his inability to bowl led to his axeing from the Test side. Sri Lanka lost the series 6-1 and Jayasuriya did not play the last ODI.
