South Africa have named an all pace attack for the first Test against Australia starting on Friday. Allan Donald spearheads the bowling along with Fanie de Villiers Craig Matthews and, if fit, all rounder Brian McMillan. McMillan has been struggling with a knee injury and faces a fitness test, with Eric Simons standing by. McMillan was overlooked for the first four one day matches of Australia's two month tour. Teams for first Test (starts Fri 4 Mar):
SOUTH AFRICA Hudson, G Kirsten, Cronje, Wessels capt, P Kirsten, Rhodes, McMillan or Simons, Richardson, Matthews, de Villiers, Donald.
Mark Waugh is a doubtful starter for Australia before the first Test against South Africa on Friday. Waugh with two centuries in successive first class innings on tour so far has a 50-50 chance of playing in the first of three Tests Waugh suffered a torn right thumbnail during the four day game against Orange Free State on Monday. Both sides are worried about the state of the wicket at Wanderers which has a grassless top with cracks covering the entire surface.
AUSTRALIA team to be announced (from): Taylor, Slater, Boon, M Waugh, S Waugh, Border (capt), Healy, Reiffel, Warne, Hughes, McDermott, May, McGrath
