Australian squad for the third Ansett Australia Test
The Australian Cricket Board's by-laws dictate that the captaincy and vice-captaincy can only be decided by the Directors once the team has been selected
Australian Cricket Board (ACB) Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Speed today announced that the National Selection Panel has selected the following squad for the third Ansett Australia Test against the West Indies at the Adelaide Oval, starting on Friday 15 December:

- ADAM GILCHRIST (WA)
- JASON GILLESPIE (SA)
- MATTHEW HAYDEN (QLD)
- JUSTIN LANGER (WA)
- STUART MACGILL (NSW)
- DAMIEN MARTYN (WA)
- GLENN MCGRATH (NSW)
- COLIN MILLER (VIC)
- RICKY PONTING (TAS)
- MICHAEL SLATER (NSW)
- MARK WAUGH (NSW)
- STEPHEN BERNARD (NSW - Team Manager)
- JOHN BUCHANAN (QLD - Coach)
- ERROL ALCOTT (NSW - Physiotherapist)
- JOCK CAMPBELL (NSW - Fitness Advisor)
- MIKE WALSH (VIC - Assistant Team Manager/Cricket Analyst)
The Australian Cricket Board's by-laws dictate that the captaincy and vice-captaincy can only be decided by the Directors once the team has been selected. These decisions will be announced at 11am on Tuesday.
The Australian squad is due to assemble in Adelaide on Tuesday afternoon and will train on Wednesday and Thursday morning; the West Indies will arrive on Wednesday after they finish their match with Australia A in Hobart.
