Azhar's continued dominance
Stats highlights from the fourth day of the second Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Colombo
40.6 Azhar Ali's strike rate, the lowest for any Pakistan batsman who has scored at least 1000 Test runs (where complete balls-faced data is available). Azhar scored 117 off 308 balls in the second innings, at a strike rate of 37.98.
1 Wicket taken by Sri Lanka's spinners in the second innings, their joint-fewest when they have bowled 50-plus overs in a home Test, which has happened on three other occasions. Rangana Herath and Tharindu Kaushal had combined figures of 59-10-165-1.
6 Dismissals effected by Dinesh Chandimal in the second innings - five catches and one stumping. The last, and only other, instance of a Sri Lankan keeper effecting six dismissals in a Test innings was 30 years ago - Amal Silva against India in 1985.
8 Number of times Herath has dismissed Azhar Ali in Test matches. No other bowler has dismissed Azhar more than 5 times.
9 Number of times Azhar has faced 200-plus balls in a Test innings, the second-most for any Pakistan batsman in the last five years after Younis Khan (12). Misbah-ul-Haq has done this six times.
5 Hundreds scored by Azhar against Sri Lanka, the third-most by any batsmen. The only players to score more Test hundreds against Sri Lanka are Sachin Tendulkar (9) and Younis Khan (7). Eight batsmen, including Azhar, have scored five hundreds against Sri Lanka.
9 Test centuries scored by Azhar, each of those outside Pakistan. He is now joint-fourth with Javed Miandad on the list of Pakistan batsmen to have scored the most hundreds in away/neutral conditions. He is also one of five Pakistan batsmen to score five or more second-innings hundreds - this was Azhar's fifth.
4 Number of times Pakistan have successfully defended 200 runs or less to win a Test - three of these instances were against England, the last was in 2012, when they defended a target of 145 to beat England in Abu Dhabi. Sri Lanka need to score 153 runs on the fifth day to win this Test.
