After round 1 of the league comp in Bali all teams are locked together on 4 points with 1 win each. A great game on Sunday last saw the mighty Lubaks - under Nick Blackbeard, sneak up and win a tight one over the Gekkoes by 1 wicket.

Richard Simmonds took man of the match with 33 runs for the Lubaks who won with a four from last man Phil Moriarty to take them to 9-143. Steady performances by team members saw everyone involved and local junior Kadek Urip Astawa took 3-26 from 5. Elliot and Jarvis were both run out for the 2nd time in their only official outings this year and Dan Metcalfs 42 took him to an early lead in the batting figuers so far this season after 4 official games.

Bob Hindmarsh bowled well for 3 wickets and held a great catch to get rid of Raja who is looking increasingly promising with the bat.

Below are batting and bowling thus far-for official games only.

Player of The Year - Ray Elliot is the Early Leader

Points for player of the year are awarded accordingly,
1 per run
15 per wkt bowled, 10 if caught
15 per catch
20 per run out direct hit, 10 each if 2 players involved
15 per stumping.

Significantly it is Ray's ability in the field which makes him early leader in player of the year on 249 points from P.J. on 193 and Soni on 160 followed by Raja, Bob H, and Dan. Rays two run outs including one direct hit on Sunday and his 2 oustanding catches against the Consul are further proof of his value to a side. Also interesting to note the 2 juniors - Urip and Suda are leading the bowling at this early stage. Interesting also to compare the performances of the Indonesian players this season. Soni's had a slow start with bowling but he'll be there as the season progresses. Interesting to see Nick and Hinchy in the bowling and Richard Simmonds in the batting.

Still many matches to go - with 2 full rounds of the league and other official games through the season. 6'S This W/End

The next league game - May 18 - Udayana v Gekkoes
