This was the first international on Bangladeshi soil to be abandoned without a ball bowled. Cyclone Akash caused a heavy downpour for almost 36 hours before the match day. Though it cleared up in the morning, with the sun appearing briefly, the damage was already too severe, and the umpires called the game off at 1 p.m., without a toss being staged.
