The Indian board is likely to invite Kofi Annan, the UN Secretary-General, to attend its platinum jubilee celebrations in November. According to a report in The Indian Express, a formal invite to Annan will be sent out at the end of the BCCI's two-day working committee meeting in New Delhi, which concludes tomorrow.
The board, which came into existence 75 years ago, is planning a week-long celebration - from November 9 to 15 - to commemorate the event. The plans include sending special invites to Garry Sobers and Neil Harvey, organising a one-off one-day game between India and Pakistan, and setting up several coaching camps throughout the country.
The celebrations fall in the middle of a packed home schedule for the Indian team - they are scheduled to play a four-Test series against Australia, which will end of November 7, while South Africa begin their tour just ten days later.
