BCCSL to Develop SSC

The President of the BCCSL, Mr. Thilanga Sumathipala recently met the Infrastructure Development Committee of the SSC headed by their President - Mr. Daya Perera PC and revived the proposals which was made two years ago to further develop the SSC as a super grade venue equal to Lord's of London.

The proposal includes the provision of floodlights, a digital score board and the construction of modern dressing rooms and covered stands with all facilities for spectators comfort.

The BCCSL President further indicated the intention of his Executive Committee to develop the Cricket Board headquarters with a Dining/Reception Hall, Spectator Seating with corporate boxes and also a Museum to support the venue.

Mr. Suchith Mohotti the BCCSL Architect for this project is to develop a master plan In consultation with SSC.

It was also decided to immediately install a sprinkler system to further develop and maintain the grounds in time for the Final Test match between Sri Lanka and England in December this year.

The President of the SSC Mr. Daya Perera together with the others present, thanked the BCCSL President and Officials for undertaking these development projects for the benefit of the club and assured their fullest co-operation and to work closely with the BCCSL to ensure their successful completion.
