Courtney Browne's motivational talks before the game against Windward Islands appeared to have had an effect. He asked his team to shape up and start contributing. "No more free rides", read the headline in the newspaper that interviewed Browne. The next day, Windwards were demolished for 55. Ryan Hinds, Pedro Collins and Corey Collymore each picked up three wickets as only two Leewards batsmen managed to reach double figures. But, following on, they ran up 201 for 4 due to Devon Smith's 99 and a century opening stand between him and Craig Emmanuel, who scored 31. But then three wickets fell suddenly in the 150s, making the prospect of a defeat within three days a real one. However, Junior Murray and Darren Sammy remained unbeaten till the day's end, adding 47 in the process.

Jamaica 179 for 3 (Marshall 62, Pagon 59*) trail Leeward Islands 510 for 9 dec (Cornwall 111, Jacobs 104, Jeffers 67, Joseph 60, Williams 51) by 331 runs
Scorecard

Wilden Cornwall and Ridley Jacobs took Leeward Islands to 510 for 9, at which point the team declared and had a go at Jamaica, who made their way to 179 for 3 by the end of the second day at St. Maarten. Cornwall struck his highest score (111) and was involved in a 66-run stand with Jacobs, who ran up 104. Jacobs played a part in a number of partnerships; after Cornwall's dismissal he added 62 with Omari Banks (31) and 54 with Carl Simon (23). Jamaica then lost three wickets before the day's end, but atleast fifty runs were added between each dismissal. The first fell at 58; the second, 125; the third, 179. Donovan Pagon remained unbeaten on 59, but the top-scorer, Xavier Marshall, was dismissed for 62 earlier.

Trinidad & Tobago 106 for 4 (Simmons 56) trail Guyana 450 (Ramdass 112, Fudadin 60, Deonarine 59, Nagamootoo 51, Cush 57, Jaggernauth 5-144) by 344 runs
Scorecard

Trinidad & Tobago were in serious trouble after Guyana put up 450 by the second day at Albion. Still 344 runs behind, T & T were 106 for 4, with Dwayne Bravo and Amit Jaggernauth at the crease. Earlier, in a show of batting might, every member of the Guyanese side - barring the first and last batsmen - contributed to the large total. Assad Fudadin scored 60 and put on 84 with Lennox Cush (47), before both fell in quick succession (357 for 7). But then Mahendra Nagamootoo (51) and Damodar Daesrath (21) took the score past 400 before Daesrath fell. Then Nagamootoo combined with his namesake Vishal for another 46 runs. However, on a day of despair, there was some joy for T & T, when Jaggernauth picked up his third five-wicket haul with 5 for 144 in 47 overs of offspin.
