John Buchanan is set to continue his involvement with Australian cricket in a new role as the ambassador for Cricket Australia's coaching accreditation program. As part of his position with Cricket Coaches Australia Buchanan will run seminars around the country and will help determine the direction of coach education.

Buchanan said he had been searching for ways to stay involved with cricket after ending his eight years at the helm of the Australia side following the World Cup triumph in April. "The importance of coaching to the health of Australian cricket is something I am passionate about and I hope to use my experience to shape the next generation of coaches around Australia," Buchanan said.

There had been reports that Pakistan were considering using Buchanan in a consultancy role but the new announcement means Australia will continue to benefit from Buchanan's experience. James Sutherland, the chief executive of Cricket Australia, said regaining Buchanan's services was a major boost for Australia.

"John Buchanan is arguably the most successful coach in Australian sports history, so it is a tremendous asset for Cricket Australia to retain his knowledge and passion for coaching," Sutherland said. "John will have an active role in working with volunteer coaches at the local level and also promoting the importance of coach education programs and CCA membership."
