The Canterbury Kiwis Under-21 representative side have had a convincing victory in the first match of their two-week Australian tour.
Playing against Lismore the Kiwis bowled extremely well and had the opposition out for a paltry 56. Josh Coll was the pick of the bowlers picking up three for seven off seven overs, Scott Bermingham took two for eight off five overs and Bernhard Ballin two for eight off four overs. David Hay and Brandon Hiini also picked up a wicket each.
Chasing this very modest score the Kiwis were in early trouble at 17 for three, before the Lincoln University Scholarship pairing of Alex Hedges and Iain Robertson saw the side home. After passing the Lismore total it was decided that the Kiwis would bat out their full 50 overs. They scored 177/5, Hedges ending 57 not out while Robertson made 38 and Andrew Robertson 31.
The team now travels to Grafton, where they play another 50-over game.
