Richie Benaud is planning to carry on commentating, contrary to earlier reports that he might hang up his beige jacket and quit the microphone after the 2005 Ashes series in England.

Benaud, now 73, told the Melbourne Herald-Sun newspaper that he is renegotiating his contracts with Channel 4 in England and Australia's Channel 9, whose coverage he has fronted for more than 20 years.

"I'm thoroughly enjoying my commentary role at the moment, and there is no thought of retirement," he said. "Both Channel 9 and Channel 4 want me to keep going."
