Carter pleased with Northants pre-season tour

Director of cricket Bob Carter has described the County's pre-season tour as a resounding success and is now setting his sights on a successful summer.
The players are due to arrive back tomorrow after a testing two week tour of Grenada which saw them win every match and get in some vital outdoor practice.
Rain spoiled the final few days for the tourists with the second match against the Windward Islands washed out, and a soggy pitch at the Tanteen Stadium ending any hope of a further game against Grenada.
But the success of the tour has already persuaded the club to look into the possibility of another trip, with the suggestion of a triangular tournament involving another county and the Windward Islands.
Carter said: "It has been two weeks of worthwhile practice and training.
"I'm really pleased with the games we have played but it would have been nice if the weather hadn't come and spoiled thngs at the end.
"We covered a lot of ground on our technical, physical and mental game, and we have put in place a structure for the season, which is a very positive move.
"We have covered all of the bases to make sure we give ourselves the best possible chance to be successful, there has been a good work ethic on the tour and the players have been good ambassadors for the club when they have attended functions, which was very important."
The County's pre-season friendly against Cambridge University at Fenners was snowed off.
