By Clive Ellis
JOHN CRAWLEY could be asked to step into the firing line at No 3 for England and he is also proving upwardly mobile in the Whyte & Mackay Rankings. The Lancashire batsman was confirmed yesterday as the top batsman for July and he has also moved up to fifth place in the rankings for the season, with Mark Ramprakash still leading.
Surrey`s Martin Bicknell, who has been in the interna- tional wilderness since playing in two Tests against Australia four years ago, has pipped Darren Gough for the July bowling award.
