Colombo Cricket Club secure easy victory over Sebastianites

Colombo Cricket Club crushed Sebastianites Cricket and Athletic club by 62 runs in their Premier Limited Overs encounter at Maitland Crescent today. After posting a formidable total of 227 for the loss of seven wickets in 46 overs, CCC restricted their opponents to just 165 for 8 wickets in their allotted overs.

CCC made first use of the wicket. Opener, Damitha Hunakumbura, and wicket keeper, Lanka de Silva, top scored with 45 runs apiece. Hunakumbura began his innings in cautious fashion and faced a total of 82 balls and hit two fours. Lanka de Silva required just 61 balls and hit three boundaries. Anushka Polonnowita and Roshan Mahanama chipped in later on with a brisk 33 and 38 respectively.

Right arm seamer, Dinusha Fernando, was the pick of the bowlers and claimed two wickets for 45 runs while Nimesh Perera took three wickets for 57 runs.

In reply, Sebastianites never looked comfortable on a wicket that began to keep low. Prabath Rambukwella top scored with 37 from 64 balls. Nimesh Perera looked impressive in his quick fire 32 and Janaka Siriwardena compiled a swift 34.

Right arm fast bowler, Hemantha Boteju, returned the best bowling figures: fours wickets for 32 runs. Left arm spinner, Nisitha Rupasinghe, chipped in with two wickets.
