Confident South Africa out to extend lead

Having put on a terrific show with the bat in the first match, South Africa will be brimming over with confidence going into the second game of the five-match one-day series with Pakistan, in Durban on Wednesday.

Their total of 392 was always going to be too much for Pakistan to cope with and the home side will be looking to make it 2-0 with victory in Durban, where they have not lost a one-day international since 2002, against Australia.

The home side should also be boosted by the return of Herschelle Gibbs, who has served his suspension for using "improper language" to Pakistan supporters in the first Test between the two sides.

Gibbs, who can also open, is likely to replace Loots Bosman and bat at four, with Jacques Kallis promoted to three.

South Africa are 2/5 (1.40) to win the second match but it's always dangerous to write off Pakistan, even more so in one-day cricket, so their price of 7/4 (2.75) could prove pretty popular.

They have several match-winners in their side and are more resilient than most. One heavy defeat won't rock their confidence like it might other sides.

Batting stars
Captain Graeme Smith and Kallis, who looks as solid as ever, are the joint favourites to be South Africa's top runscorer, at 10/3 (4.33).

Gibbs, who was looking good in the Test side before his suspension, is 9/2, with AB de Villiers 5/1 and Bosman, whose place is in doubt, 6/1. Ashwell Prince is 7/1 while Mark Boucher is 8/1 and Shaun Pollock 20/1.

The control of Shaun Pollock always makes life tough for the openers on opposing teams in one-day cricket so it could be worth looking down the order for Pakistan's top scorer.

The brilliant Mohammad Yousuf is the 7/2 favourite, just ahead of Younis Khan, a 4/1 chance. Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is 9/2 with Kamran Akmal 5/1 and Imran Farhat, Imran Nazir and Mohammad Hafeez all 11/2.
