Nathan Coulter-Nile has a chance of making his ODI debut after being added to Australia's squad for the fifth and final match against West Indies at the MCG on Sunday. Brad Haddin has also been called into the one-day group as the Australians juggle their commitments at home and in India, with staggered departures for Test squad members flying out to Chennai.

Matthew Wade and Glenn Maxwell, who were playing the fourth ODI in Sydney on Friday, will depart for India on Saturday, leaving a couple of holes in the one-day squad for the last game. The selectors are also managing the workload of the fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who sat out of the Sydney ODI and will also be rested in Melbourne, which led to the call-up for Coulter-Nile as extra pace-bowling cover.

Adam Voges, who was drafted into the squad for the fourth ODI to cover for George Bailey, who had a hamstring problem, will be retained for the fifth match. Earlier on Friday, Voges, Haddin and the Western Australia fast bowler Coulter-Nile were named in Australia's 12-man squad for the one-off Twenty20 against West Indies next Wednesday.

The first group of Test players departed for India on Thursday and the remainder of the touring party, including captain Michael Clarke and vice-captain Shane Watson, will fly out on Monday.

Squad for fifth ODI Shane Watson, Aaron Finch, Phillip Hughes, Michael Clarke (capt), George Bailey, Adam Voges, Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, James Faulkner, Ben Cutting, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Clint McKay, Xavier Doherty.
