Jagmohan Dalmiya, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), will face a challenge from Dinesh Bajpai, the former Kolkata police chief, in the presidential elections of the CAB scheduled to be held during the annual general meeting on July 27.

"Yes, I have decided to contest for the post of CAB president," Bajpai, the former head of the Bengal Hockey Association, told PTI. He said that a number of clubs under the CAB have been approaching him for quite some time to contest against Dalmiya. "Clubs have been coming to me for the past several weeks. Initially I was reluctant," said Bajpai, "but when the pressure grew, I agreed to fight the elections."

Dalmiya, who has been president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and chairman of the International Cricket Council, has been heading the CAB for nearly a decade.
