Darren Maddy, the former England batsman, has signed a contract with Warwickshire and will leave Leicestershire after 13 seasons.
Maddy made his debut for the club in 1993 and, earlier this month, was said to be considering a move to either Sussex or Warwickshire. He made his Test debut in 1999 against New Zealand, and played two further matches for his country but without great success. And though he holds a respectable first-class average, he has had greater success in the one-day game; he became the first batsman to pass 1000 runs in the Twenty Cup in 2006.
"We will be delighted to have Darren on board. He has great experience, is a mutli-skilled cricketer and he's a winner. We feel he will add value to our current squad," Mark Greatbatch, Warwickshire's director of coaching said.
"It will be a great move for me," Maddy said. "After a long and happy association with Leicestershire I feel the time is right for me to take on a new challenge. I look forward to proving myself in a new environment at a big club."
