David Hussey has agreed a new two-year deal which will keep him at Nottinghamshire until the end of the 2009 summer.
Hussey has scored 5,010 first-class runs at 65.06 in his four seasons at Trent Bridge, although he has had less success in the one-day game.
"I would love to play at Lord's in a one-day final and that's one of my biggest goals for next season," Hussey said. "Winning the Championship is still the biggest thing you can achieve in county cricket but it's been a long time since Nottinghamshire lifted a one-day trophy, and it's something I and the rest of the squad want to change."
"There were no doubts in my mind about coming back and it's a pretty exciting time for Nottinghamshire with Chris [Read] as captain. I think he will help us to claim some much-warranted silverware and I'm confident we can challenge again for the Championship title."
